Medicines, My Frenemies

When I’m prescribed another new medicine for yet another “something,” (new or otherwise) my internal battle begins… Why am I taking this and how exactly will it help? What are the side effects of it for the everyday person, AND then, what does it mean for someone like me? Will the pros really outweigh the cons? This constant battle means I no longer view medicine as a friend or an enemy; instead, it is both. My myriad of frenemies,

in all their MANY different forms, when working properly, cause me to hold them close because of the relief they provide. Several of the meds I take, at either the dosages and/or frequency in which I take them, have significant negative long term consequences. Additionally, a medicine used to treat medical issue A may mean an increase of negative effects of medical issue B. Another almost daily battle I have with myself.
